A Little History |
|
| The
Midland Figure Skating Club is celebrating 50 years of skating
in Midland. During this time, we have had many Regional and National Champions
among our individual and synchronized skating team skaters. We have also had thousands of Basic Skills, Preschool, Snowplow Sam (preschool), and Families skating in our Learn to Skate programs. MFSC was officially formed on September 1, 1955. At that time, we had only one outdoor artificial rink, but many brave skaters were found on the ice all winter long. In 1975, two sheets of ice were enclosed, and the new Midland Civic Arena was established. Skating was now available for all but three months each year, and it was MUCH warmer! At the May 1991 meeting of the USFS Governing Council, MFSC was presented with a plaque commemorating our 25 years as a USFS Club. The club continues to grow each year, facing new challenges and triumphs. We look forward to another 50 years! |
